Solanco Education Foundation awards $11,000 in scholarships

Graduation - SEF scholarshipsDuring Senior Awards Night, the Solanco Education Foundation  awarded $1,000 scholarships to 11 Solanco High School seniors who will continue their education beyond high school. The scholarships included the foundation’s first-ever “Opportunities Scholarship,” and its “Futures Scholarship” for a student who will be the first in their family to attend college. Following is a list of the Solanco Education Foundation’s scholarship recipients:

Alexis Kanuha, daughter of  Ed and Paula Kanuha, Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.

Jenevieve Eberly, daughter of Gary and Kathleen Eberly, Moravian College.

Amber Kirk, daughter of Thomas Kirk and Teresa Hannum, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Emily Duvall, daughter of Brad and Julie Duvall, West Chester University.

Daniel Siegrist, son of Dan and Regina Siegrist, Penn State-Berks or Georgia Tech, following a gap year after high school graduation.

Marissa Witmer, daughter of John and Miriam Witmer, Franklin and Marshall College.

Denise Brenneman, daughter of Dan and Michelle Brenneman, Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.

Amanda McCoy, daughter of Wesley and Lisa McCoy, Richmond the American International University in London.

Kayla Brown, daughter of Leonard and Amy Brown, Covenant College.

Graduation - SEF Hanna Welk

 

The recipient of Solanco Education Foundation’s “Futures Scholarship” for student who will be the first in their family to attend college: Hanna Welk, daughter of Jeremy and Erin Welk, Pennsylvania State University.

Graduation - SEF Cortney Johnson
The Recipient of the Solanco Education Foundation’s first-ever “Opportunity Scholarship”: Cortney Johnson, daughter of Charles and Jean Johnson, Kenyon College.

All Applications are reviewed anonymously; the foundation’s scholarship committee members are not aware of the applicants’ identities. The following selection criteria are used: 1. Average or better class standing and scholastic ability; 2. Good character, leadership and moral standards; 3. Involvement in school or community activities.
