Requirements for Your Child to Attend School

In order to protect children from common serious childhood illnesses, the State of Pennsylvania has joined all other states in requiring a series of immunizations for entry into school at various levels. Your childs school nurse will verify each student's compliance with state health laws & notify parents when vaccines are needed.

Parents are required to notify the school of the child's immunization record upon entry into school. If your child has not completed the full series of the required vaccinations, please arrange for this as soon as possible. Vaccines may be obtained at no cost or minimal cost at the following locations:

Lancaster General Hospital offers an Immunization Program for children and youth up to age 20. The immunizations are provided free of charge for those children who are not covered by health insurance or whose insurance does not cover the cost of immunizations. Must call for an appointment.

A $5.00 per child maximum charge. This must be a check or money order. No cash is accepted. You must bring a copy of your child's immunization record. The child must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian . Hepatitis B and Varicella vaccine immunizations will be given to children up to and including the age of eighteen.

If for personal or religious reasons you do not want your child to receive the required vaccinations, you may complete a waiver form. Please contact your child's school office for this form.
