Test Prep 2007-2008 PSSA Testing All Middle Level Grades
At Swift Middle School Grades 6, 7, and 8 will be given the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) tests in Reading and Math in the early spring. The testing window is from March 31 - April 11, 2008.
Eighth graders also take the P.S.S.A. Writing exam in the beginning of the third marking period. This year that test will be given during the week of February 11th.
Previously, the Math and Reading tests were administered at levels 3, 5, 8 and 11. Now the state is requiring that all grades from 3rd to 8th participate in the P.S.S.A. Reading and Math tests. Those test results came in at the end of the summer and you should have received your child's scores in the mail sometime in September. We are working at all grade levels to prepare our Swift students to take these tests successfully. In addition to the school based preparation, there is an interesting website which offers to parents the opportunity to purchase, for a reasonable price, a license for the child to practice all of the tested skills at their own rate on the family computer at home. The test preparation is in the form of regular quizzes, games and activities which are aligned with the State Standards and Anchors and can give confidence to students who are unsure or who would benefit from practicing the types of questions that are on the PSSA assessments. If you are interested in previewing this internet website and possibly to purchase a license for your child, please go to www.studyisland.com/PA and take a look at what is there.
