$64.2-million budget for 2021-2022

The Solanco School Board has approved the Solanco budget for the 2021-2022 school year. The $64.2-million budget contains a real estate tax increase of 3.50%. The state’s Act 1 tax increase limit for Solanco in 2021-2022 is 3.50%.

Factors involved in the increase include addressing student learning loss during the pandemic, inventory supply shortages created by the pandemic, rising personnel costs in the current competitive work force environment, and charter school costs. The tax increase will also provide Solanco with financial resources to help support educational programs and district operational costs after September 2024, when the district will no longer receive Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. School districts began receiving ESSER funds during the pandemic, and they can be used to improve facilities with the goal of reducing future facility operational costs.

Solanco’s millage rate will increase to 11.3440 mills. Homeowners will pay an additional $38.36 per $100,000 assessment in property value. Solanco will continue to have the lowest millage rate among all 16 school districts in Lancaster County.

Detailed information about the budget, including Powerpoint presentations provided during Solanco School Board meetings, are available for review on the Solanco website.
