Dr. Diane Boomsma, Solanco High School’s Class of 1977, will take the stage at graduation for the Solanco Class of 2023 as Distinguished Speaker.

At Solanco, Dr. Boomsma participated in various activities such as hockey, track, band, orchestra, and even managed the school store. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students. 

She was crowned Miss Solanco in 1977. 

Dr. Boomsma’s academic pursuits led her to the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, where she graduated in 1982. She then earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University in 2004.

Dr. Boomsma was named a Fellow in the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP), where she also served as the Academy’s Past President.  She is also a member of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA), and the Lancaster Country Pharmaceutical Association.

She has been recognized often for her contributions to her field. In 2012, she received the distinguished Evelyn Timmons Advocacy Award. The Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) honored her as both Pharmacist of the Month and PCCA Pharmacist of the Year. She was also awarded the PPA Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award.
