Solanco’s Band was among thirteen PA bands invited to perform at the PA Marching Band Coalition’s Season Finale Showcase that was held at JP McCaskey High School on Saturday October 26, 2024. The Band’s performance of “The Piano Studio” received several prolonged ovations (throughout the show) and also garnered high praise from all three adjudicators (each member of the judging panel is a highly respected scholastic or collegiate music educator) on the panel for the evening. Solanco students received high marks for musical execution, visual analysis, professionalism in performance, and for producing the highest levels of general effect (the impact of the musical and visual presentation on the audience). Scott Weyman, Band Director (and the designer who programmed the show) said, “The Band turned in its strongest performance of the 2024 marching season. I am most excited because it was clear, immediately upon exiting the field post-performance, that the students all had a sense that they had just delivered a truly wonderful performance! I am extremely proud of all of our Band and Color Guard students.”
In addition, during the showcase five of the participating bands (who are all charter members of the PAMBC) were presented with special award banners commemorating the 10th anniversary of the PAMBC. In the preamble from the banner presentation, each of these bands was also being recognized for our “demonstrated commitment to excellence in the marching arts activity and for leading the way in providing creativity, cooperation, and community for all participating students.” I am very proud to say that Solanco was presented with one of the prestigious 10th anniversary banners!
Solanco High School has been participating in PAMBC Showcase events since 2017 and is very proud to lead the way in creating innovative, challenging, and entertaining performance opportunities for our students. The banner itself is approximately 2′ x 4′ and will be on display either in a prime location in the Band Room or just outside our Music Suite at the high school soon.
